1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of The Lab Post website and services (the “Service”). The Service is operated by The Lab Post LLC, a Maryland limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “The Lab Post”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Account Terms

You must register with accurate information and verify your email address. You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity that occurs on your account. Notify us at [email protected] of any unauthorized use.

Accounts are personal. Each individual may hold one account; account sharing, account resale, and account transfer are not permitted. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. The Service

The Lab Post is a free service that delivers a daily email of research papers matched to a research profile you provide. Digest emails may include clearly-labeled sponsor blocks. No payment is required from you. We may modify or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.

4. Email Communications

By creating an account you agree to receive a daily digest email of paper matches based on your research profile. The digest may include sponsor blocks. You can stop receiving these emails at any time using the one-click unsubscribe link in every email, the unsubscribe option in your account settings, or by deleting your account.

We honor opt-outs and bounced-address signals by permanently suppressing the address from future sends. Transactional emails required to operate your account (verification, password reset, security notices) are sent separately and cannot be opted out of while the account is active.

5. Cancellation and Termination

You can delete your account anytime via account settings or by contacting [email protected]. We may terminate accounts immediately for Terms violations. Provisions that should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, acceptable-use restrictions) will survive.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service and its content are the property of The Lab Post. Academic papers surfaced through the Service belong to their respective publishers and authors. We provide metadata, links, and paper summaries only, not full-text articles.

You retain rights to your research descriptions and grant us a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them solely to provide the Service to you.

7. Acceptable Use

The Service is for legitimate academic research. You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Submit false or misleading research descriptions, or descriptions designed to surface information for harmful purposes
• Support or advance Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) without appropriate authorization
• Circumvent biosafety regulations or export-control laws
• Facilitate production of controlled or prohibited substances
• Make clinical or treatment decisions based solely on automated content from this Service
• Use outputs of the Service to train, fine-tune, distill, or evaluate any competing machine-learning model or service
• Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the Service beyond documented rate limits
• Reverse-engineer the Service or attempt to derive any underlying source code, models, or trade secrets
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its content
• Upload malicious code, disrupt the Service, or circumvent access controls
• Share account credentials or provide unauthorized access

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these requirements.

8. Sponsorships and Advertising

Digest emails may include clearly-labeled sponsor blocks. When they do, sponsors do not receive any personally identifying information about you. Inclusion of a sponsor block is not an endorsement by The Lab Post.

9. Automated Summaries and Recommendations

The Service uses automated systems to generate paper summaries and select which papers to surface. These outputs may contain errors and are for informational purposes only. They are not peer-reviewed, not a substitute for reading the full paper, and do not constitute medical, clinical, legal, regulatory, or professional advice.

Recommendations are matched algorithmically and may not reflect all relevant literature in your field. The Service is a discovery aid, not an authoritative literature search.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation. Automated summaries may not be complete or current.

11. Limitation of Liability

THE LAB POST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES arising from your use of the Service, third-party conduct, content obtained from the Service, or unauthorized access to your data.

Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms with at least 30 days' notice for material changes. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes agreement.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
